Waterfall: No.9 Trolley Trail

Waterfall: No.9 Trolley Trail

A small stream runs along the No. 9 Trolley Trail that connects Catonsville to Oella and Ellicott City (Maryland). Depending on the season and rainfall, the stream can be anywhere from no-existent to a formidable torrent.

I have photographed the stream many times, but one of the best images I captured is this one taken a day after a major deluge in 2016, with the stream running at a fast clip. The waterfall wasn’t large; perhaps 6 ft in height, but majestically displayed against the pool it flowed into.

These days, this particular area has been fenced off, presumably because erosion has caused the banks near the falls to become unstable. You can still see the falls when conditions are favorable, but it’s much more challenging getting in close, as seen here.

Thank you for stopping by. Your thoughts and comments are most welcomed and encouraged. Best wishes!
