Summer is in full swing and growing somewhat long in the tooth, but oh is it wonderful! After plentiful rain in early summer, plants and insects are flourishing. The black-eyed susans are blooming in abundance, the coneflowers are starting to go, but their seeds attract goldfinches by the dozens.
I've seen many solitary bees lately, including lots of small sweat bees, who seem to enjoy the pollen of my japanese honeysuckle. I hate to think that summer is fading fast, but it is. I hope all of you enjoy it while it lasts.
